Robert Johnson has a fine art degree from St. Cloud State University with an emphasis in painting. He never really did much painting after he was introduced to the medium of oil pastel… Robert’s method for using oil pastels involves, as he calls, “smearing” the colors together and building up layer on layer. He will sometimes scratch thru the layers to reveal buried color. Robert’s color use ranges from candied to ancient earth-tones that compliment the unnamed, yet familiar anthropomorphic shapes.
